John Oró MD, AANS Fellow, completed his neurosurgical training at the University of Missouri Health Sciences Center in Columbia in 1984. He then joined the faculty of the Division of Neurological Surgery at MU and began his practice in general neurosurgery, pediatric neurosurgery, and cerebrovascular and skull base surgery. In 1991, Dr. Oró became Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery and Director of the Neurological Surgery Training Program. Together with Diane Mueller, ND, RN FNP-BC, he developed The Chiari Clinic 1998.
In 2005, Dr. Oró became the Director of Neurosurgery at The Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colorado. In addition to performing cranial and spinal neurosurgery, he expanded his national center for persons with the Chiari I malformation and related disorders and currently directs the Colorado Chiari Institute at the Medical Center of Aurora. Dr. Oró has published widely on the Chiari I Malformation and has presented at numerous medical conferences locally, nationally, and internationally.
